5 Easy Ways to Speed Up Chrome Browser

chrome browser

Google Chrome is undisputably the best Internet browser for all devices. It comes with a dedicated extension and theme store which gives users the freedom to customize the look and add more features to it.

Users often complain of slow and unresponsive issues with Chrome Browser especially on devices with low ram. It is true in most cases because Chrome is the most resource-hungry internet browser. For this reason, many switches to other browsers for a smoother experience.

I’m here to show you how you can fix the slow and unresponsive issue in your Chrome browser.

1. Update Chrome

One of the simplest ways to speed up Chrome Browser is to make sure you have the latest version. Google updates Chrome regularly with security patches and new features. To update Chrome, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, then click “Update Google Chrome.” If you don’t see this option, you’re already using the latest version.

2. Restart Chrome

If Chrome is starting to slow down, a quick and easy fix is to restart the browser. This will close all your open tabs and windows, and restart the browser fresh.

3. Close Tabs

If you have a lot of tabs open, it can start to slow down. To speed things up, close any tabs that you’re not using. To do this, click the X on the tab you want to close. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + W to close the current tab.

4. Disable Extensions

Extensions are small programs that add extra features to the browser. They can be useful, but they can also slow down the browser. If it is running slow, try disabling your extensions. To do this, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, then click “More tools,” and “Extensions.” From here, you can disable or remove any extensions that you don’t need.

5. Clear the Cache

A cache is a place where the browser stores website data. Over time, this data can start to build up and slow down the browser. To speed things up, you can clear the cache. To do this, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, then click “More tools,” and “Clear browsing data.” From here, you can choose what data you want to clear, and how far back you want to go.

6. Reset Chrome

If none of the other tips have helped, you can try resetting Chrome. This will restore the browser to its default settings. To do this, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser, then click “Settings.” At the bottom of the page, click “Advanced,” and “Reset.”

These are a few ways to temporarily fix the slow laggy and unresponsive issue of your Chrome browser but to get a better and smoother browsing experience, consider switching to another browser like Firefox or upgrade your computer RAM if possible.
